I’m sad to announce the death of my mom, Pamela (Pam) Andrews, who passed of COVID complications on July 11th, at the age of 71. Family and friends will be gathering in the fall to celebrate her life; details will be announced as they are finalized.

Mom was born on October 16th, 1952, in Charlotte, NC, and adopted by her parents Jim and Maryan Thomas shortly thereafter. She was married to Bill Andrews in 1974, had her only child James Andrews in 1983, and Bill and she divorced in 1989. 

She graduated from East Mecklenburg high school in 1972, and graduated cum laude earning her Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina - Charlotte in 1992. 

Mom was a lifelong learner and avid reader. She was passionate about medicine and education – she worked as an EMT, autopsy assistant, educational program director, and elementary school teacher.

She was predeceased by her parents, and her brother, Jim Thomas. She is survived by her son, her grandchildren Jack and Ellie Andrews, her nephew Chris Thomas, and her niece Sarah Thomas.
