Pamela's obituary
Pamela Jean (Kervan) Franck, 80, of Nokomis, Florida, formerly of Newburgh, NY, went home to meet her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. Pamela was born on December 14, 1943, in Bronxville, NY, to Lawrence and Esther Kervan.
After attending Mount Ida Junior College in Newton, MA, Pamela met John Franck, and they married in March of 1967, making their home in White Plains, NY. In 1975, she and John, along with their two sons, Lawrence and Michael, moved from Mahopac, NY, to Newburgh, NY, to launch a service station business.
She placed her faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior in 1975. Pamela and her family attended and faithfully served at Valley Bible Baptist Church and Valley Christian Academy, where they grew in their faith. Pamela found joy in teaching students in the church and school.
When her two sons started college, Pamela and John moved to Osprey, FL, to be near her aging parents and eventually retire. Prior to retirement, for seven years, Pamela served as Secretary at Faith Baptist Church in Sarasota and volunteered in teaching children on Sundays. When her son Larry moved to Venice to pastor Cornerstone Baptist Church, Pamela and John joined the church and volunteered by teaching children and serving wherever needed. When Pam told someone she would be praying for them, she genuinely meant it. Even during her own illness, her focus remained on praying for others. She embodied boundless compassion and generosity, touching the lives of everyone she encountered. She remained loyal to her husband and wholeheartedly championed her sons and their wives.
Following the death of her dear husband, John, in 2011, Pamela moved into the Inlets community in Nokomis. She quickly made many friends and enjoyed her time with the water aerobics ladies. Pamela also found joy in leading and helping with various luncheon events and enjoyed venturing out on several trips with her friends.
Pamela enjoyed vacations to various locations such as Hawaii, Alaska, Italy (with her sisters), Yellowstone, and a recent cruise with her friend Carol with stops in Ireland, Scotland, and England. She and John came to love Charlestown, RI, in the 80s and purchased a small vacation cottage one mile from the beach. Later, once they were in Florida, they purchased a small home in Cleveland, GA, which was enjoyed by the family in the 2000s.
Pamela was a terrific cook and baker. She spent several holidays baking with her grandchildren and hosting lunches and dinners for both family and friends. She loved boating with her family and was a savvy clothes shopper.
Pamela is survived by her son, Lawrence (Janie) Franck, daughter-in-law, Denise, and grandchildren, Julia, Jonathan, Andrew, and Joshua. She is also survived by her brother, John (Cathe) Kervan, and sisters, Patricia (Dave) Smith and Louise (Billy) Mays. She was preceded in death by her brother Robert, brother Larry, mother Esther, father Lawrence, husband John, close friend Edward McDade, and son Michael.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, located at 315 US 41 Bypass S., Venice, Florida 34285.
In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for donations to support a few foreign missionaries, including two single female missionaries that Pam loved. If you wish, you may donate to Cornerstone Baptist Church and designate your check with "Pam Franck." Online giving is available at https://cornerstonevenice.com….
