Pamela's obituary

Pamela Vinson Aldrich, age 68, passed away peacefully at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham, NC on January 9, 2025 after a brave and challenging cancer journey. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Jewel Vinson, and brother David Vinson.

Pam was born in Wake County and raised in Zebulon, NC. She was the third out of four children of Joe and Jewel Vinson, who owned Vinson's pharmacy and were beloved in their community for their old-fashioned personal service to their patients. She attended Ravenscroft High School and went on to complete coursework in fine arts at East Carolina University before returning to Timberlake, NC, where she started her family. Her resume reflects the variety of ways Pam touched people’s lives in the roles she served, including sales and design consultant in a fine jewelry store, rural mail carrier, tutor for children with learning disabilities, and massage therapist. Her massage clients often would arrive early to enjoy the unique tranquility of her office waiting room, and drive from over an hour away to experience the ministry of her intuitive, healing touch. She treated everyone she encountered with authenticity, humility, generosity, and friendship.

Pam delighted in being outdoors and working with plants, having inherited the skillful green thumbs of her grandmother Pearl Stephenson. The extensive flower bed in her front yard sports a beautiful kaleidoscope of iris which she lovingly curated over many years. She was a talented craftsperson and calligrapher and a patient and innovative educator. She was tireless in the labor she shared with Craig to renovate several properties, including the home they shared, all of which bear the evidence of her gift for design.

Pam deeply loved the Lord and ministered to everyone who crossed her path, including the healthcare professionals who cared for her. God touched untold lives through her gifts of generosity, wisdom, loyalty, and faith. She walked her cancer journey with grace, courage, and conviction, never wavering in her absolute trust in God’s plan despite difficult setbacks.

Pam is survived by her best friend and devoted husband of 32 years, Craig Aldrich; daughters Sarah Seaver (Craig), Anna Timberlake, and Evan Heller (Alex); stepson Brandon Aldrich; stepdaughter Michelle Watson (Phillip); brother Joseph Stephen Vinson; sister Angela Jones (Greg); seven grandsons and two granddaughters; five nephews; seven great nephews and nieces; and many beloved friends who Pam and Craig consider family.

Pam’s family wishes to thank the teams at Duke Hospital 8300 and Duke Hospice for their attentive and skilled care at the end of Pam’s life.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Duke Hospice or Meet Me at the Bridge Ministry in Durham, NC.

Arrangements will be through Endswell Funeral Home. A memorial to celebrate Pam’s life is being planned for a later date.
