Palmmer's obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Palmmer Kendal Cranfield, previously known as Jerry R. Felker, who departed this world at the age of 68.
He was Born in Louisville KY Sept 9, 1956 to Doris Clark Felker and Rolla Felker. As a child and youth, He lived in Fort Walton Beach, FL, and Radcliff, KY. He is survived by his brother Gary A. Felker, (Sheila). Predeceased by brother Edward, and his mother and father.
Palmmer went to the University of Utah. He obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Geography and cartography.
Palmmer was a dedicated cartographer for the US government and later served as a Military Pay Technician for DFAS at various locations, including Fort Knox in Kentucky, Fort Rucker in Dothan, Alabama, Renton WA, and near Indianapolis, Indiana.
He legally changed his name later in life due to personal reasons.
As a younger man, he served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Austria, even though his family was against him joining the church. He was older than most missionaries, but that did not sway his desire to serve as a missionary anyway. He also paid for his own mission, something not usually done at that time. He had no family to help with the expenses. Decades later, he left the LDS church.
Palmmer was a true aficionado of college football, but he held a strong aversion to professional football. His enthusiasm for the game was only matched by his fervent support for Donald Trump.
Palmmer embodied the essence of a "Southern Gentleman." His cheerful demeanor, polite nature, and optimistic outlook were constants in his life, even amidst the many challenges he faced. His warmth was felt by all who crossed his path.
Palmmer's faith was the guiding light of his life. A devout man, he engaged with the Bible daily, praying and speaking of the Lord with devotion and certainty. He held a steadfast belief that, upon his passing, he would be welcomed into the Lord's embrace. We find comfort in the thought of him being greeted with the words, "Well done thou good and faithful servant, enter herein," and receiving a divine hug.
Palmmer Kendal Cranfield, aka Jerry R. Felker, will be remembered for his courage, his kindness, and his faith. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
