Owen's obituary
TSgt Owen Owen George Livingston, a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2024.
The son of Arnold and Victoria Livingston, Owen grew up in Clonmel, St. Mary Parish, Jamaica. He was born on October 21, 1923.
At the age of 20, Owen was recruited by the British Royal Air Force, serving from 1944 until 1946. He was stationed throughout England during World War II.
After his service in the RAF, he immigrated to the U.S. for seasonal agricultural work in Florida, returning to Jamaica in 1947.
Owen immigrated to the U.S. again in 1953, settling in Connecticut. He then enlisted in the USAF in 1955 at the age of 31. He was stationed throughout the U.S., as well as Goose Bay Labrador, northern Thailand, and throughout Japan. He valued this service highly and attained the rank of Tech Sargeant. Owen retired from Travis Air Force Base in California after 22 years of service.
He then began his civil service career starting with the United States Postal Service for 11 years in Oakland, California. He retired from USPS to pursue several small businesses. He returned to civil service for another 8 years with the United States Department of Homeland Security, as an agent for United States Customs and Immigration and United States Customs and Border Protection.
Owen permanently retired in 2004 with a little over 40 years of combined government service and civil service.
Owen was predeceased by his parents Arnold and Victoria Livingston. Owen is survived by Bupha Livingston (wife), Wesley Livingston (son with former wife Anne), Annette Livingston (daughter with Vasana), Caleb Livingston (grandson), Joyce Livingston (step-daughter), and Beatrice Todd (step-daughter).
His loved ones will remember his love for his homeland of Jamaica, and his love of, and duty to the United States as a first-generation immigrant. Owen will also be remembered for his love for the people and cultures of Thailand and Japan.
He loved the Brooklyn Dodgers and subsequently the L.A. Dodgers, although he became a fan of the S.F. Giants while living in the Bay Area (unless they were playing the Dodgers)!
He loved watching Triple Crown Horse Races, great boxing matches, and lightening fast Jamaican track athletes.
Owen had several roles in the U.S. Air Force, including proudly serving as a member of the military police. The family welcomes donations to the City of Palm Bay Police Department on behalf of Owen G. Livingston as an expression of sympathy, instead of flowers.
