Oscar J. Wood III (“Jeff”) passed away December 25, 2023 after struggling with many health issues.

Jeff was born October 5, 1964 to Oscar Jr. and Marlene Wood in Petersburg, VA. He graduated from Petersburg High School in 1983. While in high school he played football for the Petersburg Crimson Wave. His friends and family remember those days fondly. He had a joy for life and a smile that was contagious. After graduating high school, he went on to study law enforcement and joined the City of Petersburg Police Department. He loved that job and did it well.

Jeff is preceded in death by his father Oscar J. Wood Jr. and sister Pam Wood Zone. He is survived by his mother, Marlene A. Wood; his sisters: Tracy L. Wood, Betsy B. Wood, and Tina Wood West; his aunt Barbara Porach; his four children including Brandon Wood and Candice Ross; several grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 2nd, 2024 at The Heights Baptist Church at 10:00 AM.
