Oscar's obituary
With deep love and heavy hearts, our family announces the passing of Oscar Sanchez Sr., who completed his earthly journey on November 22, 2025. Born on July 10, 1957, in Corpus Christi, Texas, Oscar lived a life defined by strength, dedication, integrity, and unwavering love for his family.
In 1986, Oscar moved to Pascagoula, Mississippi, where he discovered a lifelong passion for Aikido. Through discipline and commitment, he rose to become a certified instructor, teaching students of all ages the art of balance, respect, and self-mastery. Many were shaped by his guidance, patience, and the calm strength he carried into every lesson.
In 1996, Oscar and his family moved to San Diego, California, a place where he built a proud and lasting career. He spent 23 years working as a technical representative at a shipbuilding Navy base, offering his expertise, work ethic, and reliability to a community that respected him deeply. His years of service left a meaningful mark on both his coworkers and his craft.
Later in life, Oscar returned to his hometown of Corpus Christi, where he cherished the comfort of familiar roots. In the final month of his journey, he was surrounded by care and peace at Mission Trail Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, where he went home to our Savior with serenity and dignity.
Oscar leaves behind a strong and loving family who will forever carry his memory:
His children — Oscar Sanchez Jr., Valerie Sanchez, Ariel Sanchez, and Arianne Sanchez.
His grandchildren — Kayla, Presley, Jackson, Oscar III, Marcos, and Athena.
Each of them reflects pieces of his kindness, humor, discipline, and guidance.
He was a man who lived with purpose, loved with depth, and taught lessons—both spoken and unspoken—that will stay with us for the rest of our lives. Those who knew him, whether through family, friendship, work, or the dojo, will remember his calm strength, his quiet wisdom, and the unique light he brought into every room.
Though his earthly duties have ended, Oscar’s spirit remains deeply rooted within all who loved him. This is not goodbye, but a gentle “see you soon,” until we meet again.
