Oscar's obituary

A Life Well Lived

Good-bye to our Belgium friend Oscar Hublet born in 1923 in Brussels, Belgium who left us peacefully July 23 2020 – almost 97 years of age.

Oscar’s young life was very hard and in WW2 when he was a young teenager the Germans invaded Belgium, took him prisoner and sent him to Germany for forced labour. After a few years he said his mother was very sick and got a short pass home. He never returned, hiding in a sympathizers attic. After the war was over he joined the army and learned computers. He met the love of his life Simonne and they married in 1948.

Later he worked for Honeywell & then an insurance company. They came for a visit to Canada early 1980 – liked it and eventually emigrated. They enjoyed many trips in Canada and the U.S.A. They had also visited many countries in Europe - World travelers!

They enjoyed being part of the family and watching the little ones grow up, loved birthday parties and Christmas. Enjoyed dancing, and Oscar never missed a dance! Remembering Oscar, when the ice-cream lady said “I only have chocolate and vanilla” and he said he’d have “strawberry”?? That was our fun line.

Yes – we will miss you and will never forget you.
Au revoir mon ami!
Je t’aime…
