Oscar's obituary

We are saddened to announce the passing of Mr. Oscar "Uncle Bruh" Pitts, who departed this world on November 9, 2024. Oscar, fondly known as Uncle Bruh, was born on March 13, 1946, and lived a full and meaningful life.

Oscar leaves behind his beloved wife of many years, Rosa Pitts. A dedicated family man, he is survived by his children: sons Rickie Pitts and Oscar Pitts Jr., and daughters Elizabeth, Lisa, and Wanda Pitts. His legacy continues in his grandchildren Terrell Bloom, Keara Pitts, Rickie Pitts Jr., Aiden Pitts, Brandon Pitts, and Elena Martinez.

A faithful attendee of Glad Tidings Baptist Church, Oscar was a stalwart in his faith and church community. In his leisure time, he enjoyed simple pleasures such as fishing and seeking treasures at yard sales. A keen sports fan, he passionately supported the New York Mets and Buffalo Bills. He found joy in quiet evenings watching his favorite TV shows, M.A.S.H and Matlock, often accompanied by his favorite dish of fish and grits and a glass of Canada Dry Ginger Ale.

Oscar was protective and straightforward, always putting family first. His insightful wisdom and unwavering faith guided his life and the lives of those around him. His core belief was that one should get to know God as much as he knows you. A testament to his strength and dedication is evident in his greatest accomplishment: becoming the head coach for the Pittsburgh Pirates farm club team.

Oscar’s commitment to his family, church, and community was unwavering, making an indelible impact on all who knew him. His life served as a testament to the power of faith, family, and hard work, and these values will continue to be carried on by his loving family.

In his memory, let us remember Oscar's words: "Family comes first." His legacy will forever remind us to cherish our loved ones. We take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace and watching over us from above. He will be greatly missed, but his spirit will forever live on in our hearts.

Isaiah 25:8-9 - "He will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces."
