OSCAR ARNOLD BISHOP, affectionately called "Junie" was born on December 26, 1929. He was the first son of the late Oscar Jerome

and Sarah Bond Bishop in Harford County. On Thursday_, February 17, 2006,he departed this life peacefully at the Veterans Medtcal Center.

Oscar joined St. James A.M.E. Church at an early age and sang with the Harford York County Male Chorus for a number of years. One of his

favorite hymns was "Farther Along We'll Know All About It". Oscar received his education in Harford County Pubic School System. After

school, he joined the U.S. Army and served three years on active duty.

During his military duty he served in the Korea and received an honorable discharged from the Army. In 1953, he married Geraldine Sturdivant of South Hill, Virginia and from this union had three children, Monica, Keith and Kevin.

Oscar was employed at Perry Point Veterans Administration as a Nurse Technician and received early retirement after 26 years. His desire was to drive Tractor Trailer trucks. He followed his desire and continued to work in that field which was the love of his life until illness prevailed.

Oscar was preceded in death by his parents, his former wife Geraldine Bishop, four sisters and two brothers.

He is survived by his second wife, Sarah Nowell-Bishop, stepson, step-daughter and grandson. Also to cherish his memory, 3 daughters, Monica Thomas (Charles), Virginia Beach, VA, Demetria Bishop, Garland, TX and Danita Alvarez (Rudy), Garland, TX; 2 sons, Keith Bishop, Aberdeen, Maryland and Kevin Bishop (Londale) Brandywine, Maryland; 3 sisters, Geraldine Hague, Havre de Grace, Grace Bond (Herbert), Jarrettsville, MD, and Dorothy Hall, Aberdeen, Maryland; 3 brothers, Eugene Bishop (Grace) Aberdeen, Maryland, Albert Bishop,

Havre. de Grace, Maryland and Ronald Bishop (Arthurine), Atlanta, Georgia; 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; a devoted and lovmg mother-in-law, Carrie B. Sturdivant, South Hill, VA; many daughters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
