Ophia's obituary

Mr. Ophia James Thaxton, age 92, passed away on Saturday, July 6 at 4:25 PM in his home in Benson, AZ surrounded by the love of his family.

James was born on June 7, 1932 in Macon County, Tennessee to the late George Robert Thaxton and Stella Mae (huff) Freeman Thaxton. He is also preceded in his death by his first wife Laura Delilah Faria; 1 sister, Creola Ovelle Davenport; 3 half-brothers through his father, Jack Thaxton, Raymond Thaxton, Howard Curtis Thaxton; 3 half-brothers through his mother, Randall Freeman, Douglas Mcarthur Freeman, Billy Wayne Freeman; and 1 son, Alan Thaxton.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Maria L. Thaxton; 4 children, Becky Forest, Edna Thaxton, Jorge Thaxton, Ronny Thaxton; 1 step-son, Ivan Jimenez; 2 half-sisters, Juanita Faye Gibbs, Shirley Clowers; 18 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

James loved to fish, watch Western shows and movies, and had built many structures in his life for him and his loved ones. His gestures displayed his love for all in his life, and even voiced this love in his final moments.
