Ophelia's obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ophelia Wingo Siders, a remarkable woman who was an embodiment of strength, independence, and tenacity. Born on September 19, 1935 in Silver Springs Florida, she departed from this world on July 13, 2021 at the age of 85.

Ophelia completed her education at Howard Academy in Ocala, Florida. graduating high school in 1953. She attended some college on a music scholarship at FMAU in Tallahassee, Florida. Ophelia had quite the musical talent as she sang soprano in the school choir throughout her schooling and she passed her musical talent(s) on to three of her four children. Ophelia was first married to Rufus David Wingo in 1955 and later  married Willie James Siders, Sr. in 1974. Ophelia was an excellent cook, a talent that was one of her many accomplishments.

Known for her controlling nature, Ophelia had a dominant personality that left a significant mark on those around her. She instilled in her children the value of serving God, a lesson that will persist as a part of her enduring legacy of integrity. She was a founding member of Praise Cathedral Church of God in West Melbourne.

In life, Ophelia was predeceased by her daughter Teresa Denise Wingo, her mother Areatha Mae Frederick, her father Clarence Osborne Frederick Sr, and her brother Clarence Osborne Frederick Jr. They are now reunited in eternity.

Ophelia is survived by her daughter Areatha Mae Wingo, her sons Emmett Christopher Siders and Vincent Jeroni Siders, Sr., her eldest granddaughter Charisse Nicole McGhee, and great-grandson Rhys Anthony McGhee and her husbands Rufus David Wingo and Willie James Siders, Sr., Her siblings Edward Nathaniel Frederick of New Port News, Virginia and Shirley Howard of Reddick, Florida. Ophelia has many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her love for her family was immense and the bond she shared with her children was unbreakable, as evidenced by their unwavering proximity to her throughout the years.

The void left by Ophelia's departure can never be filled. Her robust personality, culinary prowess, and integral legacy will forever echo in the hearts of those she leaves behind. As we mourn her demise, we also celebrate her life, which was full of life lessons, love, and unforgettable memories that will continue to guide her family and loved ones.
