Ony's obituary

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Ony Alvarez, born on November 24, 1950, who left us on June 30, 2024. A man of great intellect, strength, and generosity, Ony's spirit touched the lives of all who knew him. His legacy, a family of kind individuals spreading love and kindness, remains a testament to his influence.

Ony began his illustrious career in the United States Army in 1968, and after dedicating three decades to service, he retired in 1999. His time in the Army was not simply a job but a commitment to serving his country that spanned over 31 years. His greatest accomplishment, he often said, was his time in the armed forces.

However, Ony's life wasn't only about duty and service. In 1976 and 1978, he got blessed with two wonderful children, enriching his life in ways beyond words. The birth of his daughter, Christine Velez, and his son, David Velez, marked some of the most memorable and joyous occasions in his life.

In 1982, he married the love of his life, Elba Alvarez. Their love story was one for the ages, filled with deep affection, mutual respect, and unwavering commitment. Elba survives Ony, along with their children Christine and David.

Ony was a man known for his wisdom and practical advice. One of his best-shared lessons, "Stay prepared and never have to get prepared," stands as a testament to his logical and helpful nature. His ability to give unconditionally was greatly admired, making his loss even more deeply felt within the community.

In lieu of flowers, this strong and intelligent soul wished for contributions to be made to the PTSD Foundation of America. Donations can be made through https://everloved.com/life-of…. Ony's family sincerely appreciates your support and generosity during this difficult time.

Ony Alvarez's absence will be acutely felt by his family and all who were fortunate to know him. As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate a life well lived, filled with love, service, and profound kindness.
