Vickie's obituary

Vickie Aguilar

July 31, 1947 – October 6, 2025

Ollie “Vickie” Aguilar, 78, of Prattville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025.

Born on July 31, 1947, in London, Kentucky, Vickie spent her early years in both Kentucky and Chicago before settling in Tallassee, Alabama, where she made her home for more than forty years. In recent years, she resided in Prattville, where she was surrounded by family and love.

Vickie worked in the world of beauty, packaging perfumes and cosmetics, and later served faithfully in housekeeping at a local rest home. Her strong work ethic and gentle heart touched everyone she met.

She loved the simple joys of life — her little dog Sparky, listening to old hymns, and attending her beloved church, Berean Baptist, in Tallassee. In her younger years, she loved gardening and kept a self-sustaining garden to help feed her family. She also loved to dance and enjoyed the disco scene with her friends. Above all, she loved her family deeply and cared for others with a compassion that was both rare and profound. Her sweet and joyful spirit could brighten any room, and she will be remembered for her kindness, laughter, and unwavering love.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Virginia and Green Gilbert; her brother Edward Wayne Gilbert; her sister Barbara Brewer; her brother Victor Gilbert; her daughter Darlene Barnhill; and her grandson Charles West.

Vickie is survived by her daughter Ruth Ann McWhorter; grandchildren Samantha West (Jeff), Aaron West, Heather Collett (Anthony), Michael Barnhill, Shaina Lady (Ethan), Noah McWhorter, and Brandi Hubbard (Tyler); and thirteen beloved great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her siblings Gloria Faye Anthony, Jerry Gilbert, and Connie Gilbert; her nephew Terry Anthony (Brona, Caleb); her great-niece Kelsey Henderson (Jordan, Rowan, Cannon, and Elowen); her great-nephew Nathan Thomas Anthony (Cassidy, “Baby Ant,” due October 20th); her nephew Christopher Anthony (Sherri, Georgia Grace); and her great-niece Krysi Thomas (Kerri, Skylar, Riley, and Eric Jr.).

She leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory always.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, October 17, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Berean Baptist Church, located at 210 North Ann Avenue, Tallassee, Alabama 36078. All who loved Vickie are welcome to attend and share in honoring her beautiful life.

John 11:25-26

Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die.
