Olivia's obituary

Olivia Martinez, a life-long resident of Lordsburg, NM passed away on December 9th, 2020 after a brief illness. Preceded in her death is her husband, Jesus Martinez and her daughter, Rose Mary Martinez-Barnes. Olivia is survived by eight children and their spouses, Jesus Martinez II (Cecilia), Juanita Alvarez (Ernie), Rachel Buckler (Tim), Ruth Marquez (Fernando Sr.), Alice Martinez, Isaac Martinez Sr. (Verenice), Peter Martinez and Neomi Martinez-Parra (Eddie). She is also survived by biological nieces and one nephew, 27 grand-children, numerous great grand-children and great, great grand-children whom she loved dearly. Her brothers David Arredondo and Sammy Arredondo, and their families have survived Olivia as well. She had a big family who will miss her tremendously.

Olivia was faithful in her walk with Jesus. She read her bible daily, woke up in prayer and ended her day in prayer. Her prayers kept so many of her family members under a hedge of safety and her home was a place of sanctuary and peace. She was a light in this dark world and she will be missed greatly. Olivia perfectly exemplified the Joshua 1:7 scripture from the Bible. She imparted this scripture’s core message to her family that will live on from generation to generation, and it reads: “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.”
