Norm's obituary
Normand Conrad “Norm” Peno passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026, in Morro Bay, California, at the age of 90. Born on April 14, 1935, in Nashua, New Hampshire, Norm was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle.
Norm served his country honorably in the United States Army, a testament to his dedication and patriotism. Following his military service, he embarked on a successful career in sales, including roles at Sears and later in insurance. Eventually, he pursued his entrepreneurial ambitions by purchasing Mrs. Robinson’s Pies in Aptos, California. He took great pride in building the bakery into a thriving family business, which he managed until his retirement.
In the early 1970s, Norm relocated from New Hampshire to California with his wife, Lucy, and their four children to build a new life on the West Coast. In retirement, Norm and Lucy embraced travel with enthusiasm, living full-time in their RV while exploring the country together.
Those who knew Norm often described him as stubborn and funny—qualities that endeared him to everyone he met. He had a unique way of bringing laughter into every room and was always ready with a witty remark.
Norm was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Peno; sons-in-law Peter Mello and George Chacon; nephew Ken Roberts; and his parents, Rita Lefebvre and Armand Peno. He is remembered with love by his children: Leonard Peno (Audrey), Linda Mello, Michael Peno (Donna), and Steven Peno; his grandsons, Joseph and Christopher Mello and Nicholas Peno; and his great-grandsons, Markus and Russell Peno. He also leaves behind his sister, Pauline Roberts; niece, Jan Roberts; nephew, David Roberts; and many others whose lives were touched by his presence.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
