Norma's obituary

Norma Alice Thompson was born February 25, 1926, in Grand Forks, ND, to Arthur and Alice Halvorson Askegard.  She was one of 8 siblings - Leona, Donna, Warren, Donald, Charles, Vernon and their older half-brother, Lloyd.  She passed away October 20, 2022, in Seattle Washington at the age of 96.  Norma married Edward J. Charron on August 20, 1944.  Together they welcomed their two children - Edward Lee on March 30, 1948, and Janice Faye on January 16, 1950.   In the early 1950's Norma began studying the Bible and loved what she learned.  She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on December 29, 1957.  From then on, the focus of her life was her worship of Jehovah God and sharing the Bible's hope and promises with all she came in contact with.  Norma fell in love with Seattle and all its natural beauty when she visited in 1960 and Seattle became her forever home in the mid 1970's.  This is where she met Chester J. Thompson.  They were married on May 28, 1982 and enjoyed 20 wonderful years together until his death in 2002.  They were united in their worship, love of nature, traveling, sightseeing, Seward Park, Mt. Rainier and the love of family and friends.  Norma was kind, loving and generous with a unique sense of humor.  She loved sharing all she had and loved with everyone.  She also loved hosting get-togethers in her home and yard whether it was for 30 or more or just 1 or 2.  Most of all, Norma loved her Creator, her family and her whole spiritual family.  We will all dearly miss her.  Norma was preceded in death by her parents, 6 siblings and her husband, Chet.  She is survived by her son, Edward Lee Charron of Grand Forks, ND; her daughter, Janice Faye Case of Houston, TX; her brother, Vernon (Dee) of Fairhope, AK.  Also 3 grandchildren - Heather (Rawlings) Bryd, Melissa Lynn, Kristie (Jesse) Davis; 5 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
