Norma's obituary
Norma Jean Meyer, 79, of Tampa, FL, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023 with her daughter Teri Lyn Schneider by her bedside.
Norma was born on August 3, 1943 to Russell and Burdetta Bacon in Bloomington, IL. Norma attended Bloomington High School. In 1959, she married Larry Dean Smith and had a daughter Teri and two years later had a son Dean Preston Smith.
She worked in the clerical field. She eventually started a home cleaning business. She enjoyed socializing with family, friends and neighbors. She liked to do outdoor activities including skiing, camping, boating and traveling. She loved to work in her yard and always had a garden.
She loved to yell loudly while watching the Green Bay Packer’s games and she always wore her Packers outfit. If the Packers weren’t playing on TV, she’d find a local place to watch the game. Her favorite cheering words were “Packer Backer”!
Norma loved animals and her last dog was Max. He was her 14 year old big baby. Max had his own seat in the truck and traveled with her and her husband Robert (Bobby) Meyer everywhere they went.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband Bobby. Survivors include her daughter Teri, son (Dean) Preston, her brother and wife Russell and Gayle Bacon, nieces and nephew Jennifer, Sarah and Josh and her grandchildren Chamblee, Hayden and Libby Smith.
We will all miss her happy, friendly and cheerful attitude! We are planning Celebrations of Life in the near future! We'll keep you updated.
