Norma's obituary
Norma Lynn Jacobs (née Wilson), 74, of Buffalo, NY, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025 in Virginia Beach, VA. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Norma spent much of her life in Buffalo, New York, and Sandusky, Ohio, where she built lasting friendships and strong community ties.
Norma was the beloved wife of John Jacobs and the devoted mother of Andre Wilson (MaryAnn), Angela Lewis (Gordon), Nina Franklin, and Jhaakira Jacobs-Lee (Elias). She was a proud grandmother to Courtney, Morgan, Jordan, Jaeden, and Jayonna, “Bonus Grandma” to John-Savion (John John), and cherished great-grandmother to Ah’Laniyah, King, and Demi.
She is also survived by her loving siblings Arlene Truesdale (Walter) and Leonard Wilson, and a host of nieces and nephews who adored her. Norma was preceded in death by her brother Jimmy Butler, sister Barbara Jean Butler, and mother Nina Butler.
Throughout her life, Norma opened her heart and home as a foster mother to nearly 80 children in Buffalo and Sandusky, providing each with love, care, and stability. She enjoyed bingo, trips to the casino, and a good glass of wine with friends. She showed her love in countless ways, especially through her favorite hobby—cooking—bringing family, friends, and children together over meals made with care and joy.
Norma will be remembered for her strength, warmth, and the deep love she showed her family and all who knew her. Her presence brought comfort, laughter, and joy, and her legacy of kindness and resilience will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Buffalo, New York, on Saturday, November 22nd at 2:00 PM at Good Will Church 210 Southampton Street, Buffalo, NY 14208 honoring the extraordinary love, kindness, and generosity that Norma shared with all who knew her.
