Noreen "Rusty" Lytikainen, of Odenton, Maryland, passed away on August 07, 2024 at the age of 77.

Rusty was the daughter of the late Leo and Ada Katz. After graduating from Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, Rusty dedicated her life to raising her three sons and later attended the University of Maryland School of Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse at Washington Adventist Hospital and Montgomery General Hospital. Rusty's first marriage was to Daniel B. Freedman. Rusty and Dan had three sons; Michael, Jonathan, and Lance. She later married loving husband, Robert Carl Lytikainen on June 19, 1997. Her greatest joy came from being with family, friends, and her grandchildren. Rusty was proceeded in death by her beloved son Jonathan Wade Freedman, stepson Erik Lytikainen, and husband Robert Carl Lytikainen. She is survived by two sons Dr. Michael R. Freedman (Cathy Martin) of Severna Park, Maryland and Lance J. Freedman (Johnny Laychaypha) of Denver, Colorado, her sister Barbara "Bobbie" Rosen (Bert), grandchildren Bailey Freedman, Benjamin Freedman, Alana Martin, and Leo Freedman, nephews Dennis Ehrlich (Sherry) and Lawrence Ehrlich, nieces Karen Goldstein (Todd) and Elisa Rosen Bassett, great nephews Jared Goldstein and Ryan Bassett, great nieces Jillian Shepard (Jon), Lily Goldstein, and Hannah Goldstein, stepsons Carl Lytikainen (Kimberly) and Mark Lytikainen, stepdaughter-in-law Lysa Wysong Lytikainen, and many step grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at Elesavetgrad Cemetery, 3233 15th Place, SE Washington, D.C. 20020 on Friday, August 9, 2024 at 11:00AM. 

Shiva immediately following the service at Rusty's home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Assosiation.
