Background
Nolan Porter was one of my dearest, and oldest friends . I met him in high school when I was 15 years old and he became a beloved part of our family for the remainder of his life.
Nolan was an outstanding human being and a phenomenal musician, composer and recording artist. He had just recently resurrected his singing career, touring clubs in England where he was gaining tremendous popularity among R&B fans of all ages.
He was diagnosed with stage four liver cancer early in 2020, and last evening he lost a very brutal battle against this devastating disease.
Nolan leaves behind a legacy of love, over five decades of unforgettable memories, and of course, his incomparable music and artistry. We mourn today with his loving and devoted wife, Patrice Zappa-Porter, his exceptional step daughter, Julie Waterman, and a world of friends who will miss him forever.
Nolan was also a convert to Judaism and a member of the Creative Arts Temple in LA. May his memory be a blessing.
Nolan's death was unexpected, and we don't have the funds we need to pay for his funeral. Anything donated will be used to offset funeral costs. Any donations beyond our goal will be used to purchase a burial plot for Patrice (his wife) to be buried next to her husband when the time comes.
