Noah's obituary
Nokomis: Noah “Sam” Sammons, age 81, resident of Nokomis, Florida, died Monday, June 24th, 2024 at The Goldton Memory Care Center. After a long battle with Alzehimers, with Carol by his side, he passed on their 62nd wedding anniversary.
Born May 1st, 1943 in Olive Hill, Kentucky to Noah and Hazel (Parsons) Sammons, he grew up in Ohio where he graduated high school and attended The Ohio State University. While vacationing in Florida, he met his wife Carol on a blind date. The night he met her, Sam told his parents he was going to marry Carol. They were engaged in six weeks, and married just six months later.
Sam was a well known manager with Kraft Foods and won many awards and vacations for his excellent work with the company. Sam and Carol had many adventures in real estate— owning properties in Ohio, North Carolina and Florida.
Sam loved to spend a lot of time with his family, traveling in his RV and visiting all 50 states, walking every morning to the Nokomis Beach, playing pickleball and taking cruises. Later in life, he learned to play guitar and wrote his own songs for Carol.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Carol (Curry) Sammons, two daughters, Kim (Randal) Stephens, Kyle McKinney; six grandchildren, Tiffany (Dustin) Montgomery, Kayley (Brandon) Walcher, Kolby (Colton) Flake, Keely McKinney, Kody McKinney, and Kenzy McKinney; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Saundra (Daniel) Peterson of Mansfield, one sister in law, Dianne Sammons of Shelby, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Noah and Hazel Sammons and his brother, Dennis “Duke” Sammons.
A celebration of life will be held at Lift Church, 695 Center Road in Venice, Florida 34285. The service will be on Sunday, June 30th at 3pm.
