Nils Richard Anderson, 81, of Lakeway, Texas, passed away on January 29, 2022.
Nils was born on November 3, 1940 to Nels and Edna Anderson in Evanston, Illinois. He grew up with his two brothers, Donald and Jon David and they remained close after leaving home. After graduating from high school, Nils joined the Navy and served on the USS Myles C. Fox. His ship was on stand by during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was honorably discharged from the Navy when he was 21. Soon after leaving the Navy, Nils started working at IBM and stayed employed there for over 30 years before retiring. While at IBM he studied at Colgate University as a part of their executive training program. He married his high school sweetheart, Ellen Jackson and they went on to have six children, Susan, Barbara, Nils Erik, Anna Lisa, Michael and Jennifer. They were married for 25 years. He married, and is predeceased by, Dulce (Candy) Lopez and had their son, Kristofor. He married and divorced Julia Threadgill.
Nils was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. Nils was very active and loved sports including bowling, cycling, rowing, roller blading, fishing, snow and water skiing but his favorite was tennis. Nils loved all kinds of music and played the guitar. He also loved cars and could often be found doing projects around the house, yard work and wood working. Whatever Nils was doing he immersed himself into it completely and did it to the Nth degree. Nils was authentic and a good friend who cared about people. He could often be heard telling stories and making people laugh with his unique sense of humor. Most of all he was a loving father and grandfather. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, and he often spoke of how proud he was of his seven children, seventeen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Nils was predeceased by his father Nels, his mother Edna, his older brother Donald, younger brother Jon David, his wife Dulce, and daughter Barbara. He is survived by his children Susan (Todd), Nils Erik(Debra), Anna Lisa (Chris), Michael, Jennifer, and Kristofor (Nicole), grandchildren, Eva(Ben), Karl, Inga, Lars, Jonas, Taylor, Ashley, Abby, Gunnar, Madison, Xavier, Andreas, Angelina, Alexandra, Jacob, Miles, and Amelia, and great grandchildren, Genevieve and Aurora.
