Niko's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Niko Soto, who left us far too soon on May 30, 2024. Born around March 20, 2013, Niko was the most un-cat cat there ever was. He loved people and approached everyone. He begged for food from the table, never knocked things onto the floor, and let Romeo carry him around like an accessory. We're not really sure when his meow broke, but it did, so he barely even sounded like a cat. People who didn't like cats liked Niko.
Despite all of these contradictory characteristics, he was a cat. And he was the best cat. Niko was an ear-licking cuddler with an enormous amount of patience. He loved everyone, but he especially loved his family. He was also a skillful hunter and brought many "gifts" to his family over the years. The ten years we got to spend with Niko since he was adopted into the family was a decade of biscuit making, affection, laughs, hugs, entertainment, no personal space, and lots and lots of love. Niko made an impression on everyone he met, and he will truly be missed. I'd like to think he's in Heaven now, cuddling with Jesus and licking his ear.
On May 9th, 2024, Niko picked a fight with a dog 13 times his size, which left him with a broken jaw. Despite several surgeries and procedures, the complications that arose from this injury led to his passing. We were very blessed to have a vetinarian as a friend who discounted his treatment immensely, but this couldn't have happened at a worse time financially and has caused a major financial hardship. Gifts and flowers are not necessary but if you feel compelled to give, any donations towards Niko's medical bills would be greatly appreciated.
