Nikeda's obituary

Nikeda was born in Kansas City, MO to the late Anita (Anderson) Carter & Bobby Wayne Carter Sr. on April 11, 1986. In 2004 she graduated from Center High School and went on to join the United States Army in 2005. After graduating basic training, Nikeda furthered her education by attending Missouri Western State University and later Brown Mackie College where she received her associate degree in Nursing.

In 2007 she married Tyon Simmons and from this union they had three beautiful children: Dontae Amir (16), Imani Chanel (14), & Tionne Janelle Simmons (9). The marriage was dissolved in 2014, but the couple remained friends for the rest of their lives.

Nikeda served as a Human Resources Specialist (42A) in the administrative section of the 139th Medical Brigade while in the US Army. In 2014 she transitioned to the United States Navy where she earned the rank of Petty Officer 1st Class and served as a Yeoman for the Amphibious Construction Battalion Two at NOSC Raleigh. During her 17-year military career she received many honors and awards including the Army Achievement Medal & Navy/Marine Achievement Medal. Nikeda would also later earn distinct membership in Kappa Epsilon Psi Military Sorority, Inc.

"Keda", as many may know her, was the life of every party! She loved to laugh, sing and enjoy time with family & friends. She also enjoyed traveling the world and was a lover of food and wine.

She is preceded in her passing by her parents; grandparents; brother, Bobby "BJ" Carter Jr.; sister, Brandi Carter.

She is survived & cherished by her three children; four sisters, Eboni Carter, Bobbi Carter, Jalisa Carter-Hazziez (Rasheed), Tamika Boyd; three nieces; five nephews; one great niece; one great nephew; as well as a host of aunts, cousins, and friends.
