Nicole's obituary
Nicole was known for her radiant spirit and the light she brought into the lives of those around her. Many of you have met our Sunshine over the years as she worked tirelessly before retiring from St. Elizabeth’s (Mercy Health). Her kindness and loving nature touched countless lives. Nicole cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren, always finding joy in their company.
She was never without a notebook, as writing was her passion. Nicole filled hundreds of notebooks over the years, and one of her greatest joys was working with her daughter to transfer her handwritten notes into Microsoft documents, preserving her cherished thoughts and memories.
Nicole also had a deep love for arts and crafts and treasured the handmade gifts she received from her family. Her granddaughters brought her immense happiness, delighting her with their reading, playful dances, and creative activities. Shopping with them was a special joy, and she relished these outings as opportunities to bond and make memories.
A strong advocate for education and awareness, Nicole was always ready to share her knowledge and experiences, particularly about her health conditions—congestive heart failure (CHF) and lymphedema. She believed in making a difference through education and compassion.
She is survived by her two children, Ti’Ree M. Brooks and Ti’Ra N. Benton, her granddaughters, Aurora (Butterfly) and Lily (Lilybug), affectionately known as Pantry Inspector and Cabinet Raider, and her bonus children Joey Grassco, Mikhail Brooks, Jose Pagan, and Tyler Abron. Nicole will also be deeply missed by her three brothers, her many nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and her dear friends, Dorothy Gains and Myshell Mixon.
A service will be held at F. D. Mason Memorial Funeral Service on September 26, 2024, with visitation beginning at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be sent to the funeral home or made through the link on Nicole’s memorial page.
