Nicholas's obituary

With a heavy heart we write our final farewell to our beloved son, Nicholas Tuck Pendley.

Nick was with us for much too short of a time, but in his young life he lived every minute to its fullest.

His smile, laughter and big hugs will be deeply missed. Nick was born on May 10, 1999, in Merriam,

KS, and welcomed and cherished by his parents Laura and Myron Pendley, and his big sister and

best friend, Grace Paige Pendley. They, along with many family members and friends must now find

their way to live with only his memory. Nick will be forever cherished and deeply mourned by his

partner, Victoria Thomas, and their beloved dog, Dante.

Nick grew up in Missouri City, TX and graduated from Ridge Point High School in 2018 where

he played both baseball and football. He was a passionate sports fan and athlete and a proud

Mama’s Boy. He and his dad never missed an OU or Texans football game! On the field or in the

stands, he brought the same competitive spirit, heart, and humor. He loved the energy of the game,

the camaraderie of the team, and the thrill of every play. But his greatest peace was found in fishing.

Whether casting a line at dawn, standing knee-deep in quiet water, or sitting beside someone he

loved, fishing was his sanctuary. It gave him space to reflect, connect, and just be. It was how he

stayed grounded—through stillness, nature, and the simple joy of being present.

One of the most treasured relationships in Nick’s life was the one he shared with his sister,

Grace. From an early age, they were inseparable—bonded by their love of comics, horror movies,

and video games. Nick was Batman and Grace was Superman, and together they formed a dynamic

duo whose laughter filled the house. Video games were never played solo; they were partners in

every digital world they explored. Their love for metal music was another bond—every new song was

something they shared with each other first.

During his freshman year at Texas State Nick met his true love, Victoria. They built a life filled

with deep love, support, and shared adventure. Whether exploring caverns, relaxing on white-sand

beaches, or taking spontaneous road trips to visit friends and family, they made memories at every

turn.

Nick graduated from TSU with his BS in Construction Science in 2023. He had just accepted

an Assistant Project Manager position in August at Satterfield and Pontikes and moved back to

Houston with Victoria and their new puppy, Dante.

Nick lived with heart, humor, and unwavering loyalty. He loved his family and especially his

Mama’s cooking! He made people feel seen, valued, and loved—without ever needing to say much.

He gave love freely and received it just as openly, creating bonds that were deep and lasting. His

absence leaves a space that can never be filled, but his spirit continues in the stories we tell, the

music we share, the inside jokes that still make us laugh.

You’ll find him in the quiet moments: in the rhythm of a favorite metal song, in the roar of a

stormy day, in the warm light of a setting sun. Nick’s memory lives on in every laugh shared, every

game played, and every cast line.

Nick is survived and forever in the hearts of his parents, Laura & Myron Pendley, sister Grace

Pendley; his grandmother Mary Dell (Pendley) Skodak and her husband Leonard Skodak; Aunt

Paige and Uncle John Shields; Aunt Stacey and Uncle Robert Koenig (with cousins Kayla Koenig,

Kara, and Adam Gunter); and Great Aunt Diane Conn (with cousins Stephanie Conn, Carrie, and

Sierra Stryker).

In lieu of flowers, we invite you to join us in funding a memorial bench at Nick, Victoria and

Dante’s favorite dog park, a place where his presence was so deeply felt, and where his love for

animals, nature, and peaceful moments truly came alive.
