I’d like to pour some out for my day 1 homie Nicholas Michael Schroeder. I remembered meeting you during my first summer in Brisbane California you were my neighbor from across the street you lived in a house surrounded by a white picket fence. You had a two story club house and a fucken golden retriever. I can still remember you rockin all the latest bugle boy gear. If I hadn’t met you I’d been one of those weird dudes that don’t know anything about sports. I remember riding bikes with you to the witches orchard or the lost woods. I remember ordering bravo pizza. I remember playing pickle thee flies up smear the queer and tackle 🏈 . I remember you clowning me after I got my first glove because it was some Franklin piece of shit but still teaching me to break it in I remember watching the 1993 Giants on tv and getting our hearts broke when they lost the pennant. So many memories attached to one of the happiest times in my life. I’ll see you in the next life brother!!

Being raised by a single grandparent (Dee Brown) meant that I spent a lot of my time at Brisbane Parks and Rec after school program and camps which is where I met Nick. He was such a fun counselor, playing pranks on each other for fun and always going to great lengths to make me laugh. Later on I learned that Nick struggled with addiction, but I will always remember him through the eyes of my younger self as the cool, happy, goofy guy I looked up to in the absence of a male figure in my life. Seeing the community show up for him today truly displayed what a special person he was. So many people love you Nick, rest easy.
My prayers are with your family. Nick touched a lot of peopl, he will be missed and never forgotten.

I'm so sorry for your loss. He was so sweet. He will be missed. We had a lot of great conversations.

Nick was a great guy...fun all the time. The Schroeder Family were wonderful to Lonnie (Rivers) growing up. Nick was always the first to remind Lonnie to come by the house for Halloween...because EVERYONE went to the Schroeder's on October 31 for "Tricks or Treats". Nick was one of the most fun boys in Brisbane...always polite, always fair, and very cool. Lonnie is a better man because of the neighbor / friend that Nick was to him while growing up...he left quite an impression on all of us. I'm so grateful that he was a part of our lives...especially Lonnie's during their school years. Our hearts go out to the family. With Love... Marco, Sandy, & Lonnie
