Nick's obituary
Nicholas Noland age (39), passed away on December 9, 2024. Originally from South Carolina, Nicholas was a resident of Colorado Springs for many years.
He was a former teacher at Manitou Springs Middle School and Sierra High School where he shared his love for reading and writing with others. An avid hiker, Nick enjoyed the outdoors immensely and was proud to have become an Eagle Scout, completed the Appalachian Trail, and to have hiked many of Colorado’s 14ers. His other passion was music, and he was never far from his guitar. Nick had a drive for adventure and it was this drive (along with his stubbornness) that aided him in his recovery after he lost his legs to frostbite while hiking Mt. Shavano several years ago.
Nick’s love for his family was a constant source of strength throughout his life. He loved his kids fiercely and faced life’s challenges with resilience and determination. As a family, we hope that Nick has found peace and that, in time, we too can find our own. He is survived by his best friend and former wife: Maggie Noland; his children: William and Benjamin Noland; his parents: Jeff and Susan Noland; and his sister: Caroline Toney-Noland (Andrew Toney-Noland). While our family is devastated to lose Nick so suddenly, we're committed to ensuring his kids grow up knowing they're loved and just how much their father cared for them.
A memorial service to share stories about Nick will be held at 2pm (4pm ET; livestream available) on Monday, December 23 at the Shrine of Remembrance at 1730 E Fountain Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80910. Memorials in Nick’s name may be made to support his children, Will and Ben.
