I did not know Nick personally, but know his parents well. They are and were loving parents full of love for their family. They have stepped up to help with Nick and Maggie’s beautiful boys. We pray for this family during this difficult time of need! God walk with you all! Donna Skudlarek
Just learned about Nick. We’re still in Farm Lake. My memories of Nick go way back to me picking him up to go to Camp Lea where he was a den chief for me. He had me laughing every day in my van! I’m glad he was once part of my life! My heart goes out to you!

I was so sorry to hear about Nick's passing. He was such a kind and interesting man. I had nick as a teacher twice. Best teacher i have had in my entire life. He cared about who he was teaching aswell as what the lesson was about. I would see nick playing his guitar by patsy's, when i worked at the arcade. Im happy i got too talk to him so recently. <3

Nick shared his blog with me of hiking the Apalachean Trail. Potentially it can inspire others so putting this here-✨

Jeff and Susan,

I was so heartbroken to hear this news about your son.  Praying for you and your family for peace and comfort as you go through this journey.

Fondly,

Diane McAndrew

Our relationship with Nick begin early. Our son Jordan and Nick became lifelong friend about age 10 or so. This is where Nick became a part of our lives.

Nick, Jordan and their group of friends were together often. I got to know Nick even more as a leader in the Boy Scouts. For the next few years we all camped, hiked and had many adventures together. It was a great time for everyone! It was during this time the boys went from being boys and grew into young men.

It wasn’t just in scouts, but outside of scouts we knew and loved Nick. There were whitewater trips, church events, concerts at the school, field trips for school, and just general time at our house.

One of my favorite memories was during a school concert, Nick (on electric guitar) and Jordan (on his keyboard) were behind the orchestra. However, Nick had a 50 foot cord to his electric guitar and he moved his way to the front during the songs. Loved it!

We celebrated when he and Maggie were married. I loved that it was “kind-of” traditional, but held out in a field at a farm. The light sabers were a great touch! Just seemed like Nick.

So many memorable times, and other times that were just daily living and he was a part of it.

We were not necessarily close to Nick as they moved to Colorado, but always felt connected through his friendship with Jordan. Nick and his family were always in our prayers through the events in his life.

We will miss Nick, but we will always remember him fondly. We pray for Maggie, the boys, Jeff, Susan, and Caroline for peace.

Ellen Wills-Higgins "My middle son has this photo of Nick. They had gone on a school trip to Washington DC , I believe. This would have been back when my son was in 8th grade in Manitou . He is 23 now. It’s been awhile. My son took this photo on a bus headed somewhere. Nick was goofing around. I’m really so terribly sorry and sad for everyone close to Nick. He really had such a loveliness to him."
Mr. Noland was by far the most unforgettable teacher of my middle school years. His passion for adventure and his deep sense of family left a lasting mark on me that continues to inspire my life today. One of my most cherished memories was on the last day of school when Mr. Noland brought his guitar and serenaded everyone walking through the halls. I’ll never forget hearing him play Hey Jude and, as I passed by, he changed the lyrics to Hey Dom. In that moment, I felt seen and valued. It’s a small gesture, but it meant the world to me. I will forever carry these memories with me and always be grateful for the joy he brought into my life.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Noland, Maggie and Caroline,

We love Nick and love your family. We grieve over this indescribable loss and will continue covering you all in prayers. Nick was an inspiration and his love for life, music, literature and nature coupled with his ability to genuinely listen and connect with those around him will never be forgotten. Nick was like a brother, and I’m forever thankful to God for Nick’s friendship and presence in our family’s lives for the last 25+ years.

There are so many memories, too many to list, but the first few that come to mind are of the scouts running together in the fire station parking lot after meets, watching Nick make a guest appearance at one of the school’s concerts as he rocked out on his guitar to Wipe-Out , our youth group’s trip to New Hampshire, or the first time I heard Nick talking to Jordan about Maggie. There was so much goodness and joy, and I pray that your minds are flooded with comforting memories.

We’ve always had the deepest admiration for your family, and we should all aspire to selflessly give as much as you have to your friends, your family and community. Please know that we are here for you in whatever way we can support you. We love you all.
