Nicholas was the youngest of a close-knit, multigenerational family. He was the baby of the "Eight Mates", a name proudly given to the grandchildren of Al and Helen Giordano. He has left behind his daughter, Hannah, his two sisters, Dina and Tracie, and his father and mother, Donald and Janice Hedwall.

His soul was creative and intelligent. His ability to tinker and develop original theories, ideas, and techniques were evident in his wood working, guitar playing, and culinary creations.

He had incredible compassion and understanding of the world and people in his presence. His tenderness was palpable and fearless.  His wit and humor were contagious, and he could charm his way through the most difficult of situations.
