SOUTH BEND, IN - Neva Devon Burns, 60 years old, passed away at 10:20pm Wednesday night in her new home at Riverside Village of Elkhart, IN. Neva battled with cancer and other serious illnesses, yet God graced her with a sudden & painless transition into Heaven. Anyone who knew Neva would describe her as a kind & gentle soul who would do anything in her capacity to help others. Her door was always open to friends and family, who she was always surrounded by when she was still living independently. Any friend of Neva's became a friend for life. Those left behind to cherish her memory include her daughter Tiffany Thomas, (Elkhart, IN) her grandsons, Walter and Peter Thomas, (Elkhart, IN); a granddaughter, Margaret Monagle, (Newberry, SC), and many beloved lifelong friends including Rick Keller, Margaret Browne, Glen Luckert, and Greg & Julie Deka, all of South Bend. Neva is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, and her partner & best friend of 30 years, Joseph Eberley. May “Neva The Diva” rest in peace.
