Nellie's obituary
Nellie Jung, of Plainfield, New Jersey, passed away on February 23, 2024 at the age of 87. Born on November 9, 1936, in Waltham, Massachusetts, to parents Ng Shee and Tin Foo of Canton, China. Nellie lived a life filled with love, dedication, and faith.
Devoting herself to her family and her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, Nellie's legacy is one of selflessness and devotion. She was the beloved wife of the late George Jung and a loving mother to Greg Jung and Stacey Jung. Nellie was also cherished by her grandchildren, Carter Layton Jung and Grace Carrington Jung, both 10 years of age.
Nellie's professional journey was marked by her intellect and determination. She excelled as a computer programmer, graduating from Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts, with a Bachelor's degree in science. Her strong aptitude for physics and math was evident throughout her career.
Her commitment to her community extended beyond her family and profession. Nellie was an active member and treasurer of the United Church of Christ Congregational in Plainfield, New Jersey, where her presence and contributions were deeply valued.
Nellie loved spending time with her family and her friends (she just loves being around people). She loved her cats (and pretty much all things related cats). She loved to travel and enjoyed going to the movies, shows, and restaurants with others. She was passionate about making homemade pickles, walnut and cranberry bread for others during the holidays. She devoted a lot of her time in doing volunteer work. Nellie was a really good listener and her favorite food was McDonald’s french fries.
A service to honor and celebrate Nellie's life will be held on Sunday, April 7th, 2024, 4:00 PM at the United Church of Christ Congregational in Plainfield, New Jersey. All who knew Nellie are welcome to attend and pay their respects.
Nellie will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, George, at Hillside Cemetery on Monday, surrounded by immediate family members. In her passing, Nellie leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and enduring kindness that will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
