Nathalie's obituary

Nathalie Treonis (previously Kavanaugh, née Vucko), beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. Nathalie was born October 24, 1939, in Chicago, IL, to the loving parents Joseph and Angie Vucko. She was the older sister to Jackie Pinkowski and Raph Vucko.

At 30, while raising four daughters as a single mother, she put herself through college and graduated, with honors, to become a math teacher and eventually vice principal at Chicago's Mark Sheridan Math & Science Academy. Nathalie was a lifelong learner and advocate for betterment through education.

Nathalie married the late Robert Treonis, and in 1993, they retired to Longboat Key, Florida. In LBK, Nathalie was involved in many charitable organizations, including the Longboat Key Turtle Watch and the Longboat Island Chapel's Scholarship Committee. She also loved literature, theater, music, travel, and beading and she was excellent at dedicating time to these passions.

While enthusiastic about her charity work and hobbies, Nathalie's first priority was always her family and friends. Whether it was for Christmas, Spring Breaks, or their annual fish fry, Nathalie and Bob adored hosting their loved ones at their cozy home on Tarawitt Drive.

Nathalie was a dedicated and loving mother to Wendy Wight (married to Jimmy), Laura Burke (married to Mike), Shawn Hellebuyck, and the late Sherry Kavanaugh. She was a supportive and absolutely iconic grandmother to Kerianne Burke, Joseph Burke, Jordan Hellebuyck, Olivia Wight, and Nathalie Wight. She was a dedicated friend to many. Nathalie never met a party she didn't love and was well-known for her style, hosting finesse, wit, wisdom, and readiness to offer a helping hand to those in need.
