Tasha's obituary

We painfully announce that Natasha “Tasha” Lydie Blaise, 33, of Cleveland, Ohio passed away on February 10, 2024.

Natasha was born to Gessie Dalencour and Gersang “Max” Blaise on June 16, 1990 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The third of Gessie’s four children, Tasha had will and determination from a young age, exemplified in her walking earlier than most. An excellent student and athlete, she graduated from Valley Stream Central High School in New York where she received many medals, awards, trophies, and accolades in track and cross country. She took those talents to the College of Wooster in Ohio, where she earned other athletic recognitions. Despite her intelligence and wit, college was not her style, and she decided to take her talents and skills to the work force where she showed the work ethic, love, and honesty that were central to who Tasha was. For all of those who had the honor to work with Tasha, they can testify that she not only worked hard but did so in style. Her final and very rewarding job was with the Ohio Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Tasha was known for having a unique style that she cultivated and curated throughout her life. It was easy to spot something unique, different, or extraordinary and with joy and amusement remark that it was “so Tasha.” She didn’t care how she looked, as long as she felt good, she was working it with an infectious confidence. Whether in Florida or New York, Georgia or Ohio, Natasha made friends, wherever she decided to call home. A generous spirit, Tasha shared her love of music, food, games, silliness and just the willingness to entertain with everyone. Want to have an unforgettable party that was full of style? Tasha was the one to call..

To carry on her infectious party style, Natasha leaves behind her mother Gessie Dalencour; father Gersang Blaise; sister Whaseka Horne and her children Zionna (deceased) and Zhen; brother Mario Horne, his wife Leneisha and their four children Genevieve, Meya, Nehemiah, and Xavier; brother Christopher Dalencour; sister Ivy McCray and her four children; sister Gersana Blaise; brother Gersang Blaise Jr.; grandmother Jeannine Dalencour; Uncle Lesly Dalencour and his wife Suze; Aunt Dr. Chantal Dalencour; Aunt Djenane Dalencour-Murray (who raised her as her own), cousins who were more like sisters Chantal and Djenane Murray as well as an abundance of cousins, grand aunts and uncles, extended family, close friends, co-workers and of course, her dog Domino and snake Wednesday.
