Nasser's obituary
Nasser Issa Shahin, known by most as Nicki Suits or just Nicki, passed away in 2019. He was born in Kuwait in 1965 and spent most of his early life in Amman, Jordan before making his way to Boston in the late 80s, where he built a life filled with people who loved him and stories that still get told.
Nicki was the kind of man who could fix anything- cars, homes, computers, and who could make anyone laugh, no matter what they were going through. He worked as a master mechanic, a designer inside and out, a businessman, and really, anything he set his mind to. But more than anything he was a storyteller. He had a way of making even the hardest moments into something you could laugh about. He made people feel seen. And safe. And like life was still good.
He was a good son to Nada Ayesh, a loving brother to Nadia Shahin, and a father in every sense of the word. His son, Nedal Shaheen, was the joy of his life. And though Dina Shahin was his niece, he raised her like a daughter, with love, patience, and pride. He always showed up.
The one thing Nicki said over and over again, maybe in different ways but always the same truth, was that he never did anything like other people. Every story he told, every memory he shared, somehow came back to this: “I didn’t do it like anyone else. I did it my way.” And he meant it. His way was full of charm and stubbornness, risk and loyalty, messiness and magic. But it was always authentic. Always his own.
He is missed every single day by those who knew him, who laughed with him, who learned from him, and who were lucky enough to be loved by him. His stories live on. His voice lives on. His way lives on.
