Nanette's obituary

Nanette Renee (Swindle) Teeter

Lovingly known as Nan and Nannie

March 16, 1961 – February 17, 2025

Age: 63

Nanette Renee (Swindle) Teeter, lovingly known as Nan and Nannie to many, passed away on February 17, 2025, at Mercy South Hospital in Saint Louis, MO, at the age of 63. She was born on March 16, 1961, in Blytheville, AR, to Wanda Avis and Fred Swindle.

On September 2, 1983, she married the love of her life, Michael Teeter. Together, they helped to raise their daughter, Brandy Teeter McDowell, and they deeply enjoyed being incredible grandparents to their four grandchildren—Kassie, Hannah, Clara-Beth, and Caden. While Nan was a skilled employee at Greene's Pharmacy for many years, her true calling was being a devoted wife, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. Her family was her greatest joy, and she poured herself into making every moment with them special.

Nan was known for her thoughtfulness and the joy she brought to all who knew her. To Nan, no moment was ever too small or mundane—each was another opportunity to show how much she cared. Her playful, silly spirit brought light to every occasion and she had a unique ability to make each person feel truly cherished. Her unwavering commitment to her husband, Mike, and the deep friendship they shared were felt by all who knew them.

She is survived by her loving mother, Wanda Avis; her sisters, Trina Powell and Candy Walker; her brothers, Steve Swindle, Stan Avis, and Chris Avis; her daughter, Brandy McDowell, and son-in-law, Curtis McDowell; her grandchildren, Kassie McDowell, Hannah Bowen, Clara-Beth McDowell, Caden McDowell, and great-grandson, Barrett Bowen; her nieces, Briah Howard, Summer Grabert, Autumn Brown, and Beth Benne; her nephew, Wesley Ketchum; and many extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Teeter, with whom she shared a beautiful life; her father, Fred Swindle; and her stepfather, Carl Avis.

A celebration of Nanette's life will take place on March 22, 2025, at Elk Chute Lodge in Gobler, Missouri, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. In honor of Nanette, please wear your Converse shoes. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Steele Public Library.

Nanette will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her loved ones.
