Nancy Poovey Yount, 89, of Durham, NC passed away on March 18, 2023. Nancy was a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory, NC. She taught elementary school for 33 years, mainly at Hope Valley Elementary in Durham. After her retirement, Nancy worked as a preschool teacher and loved keeping the children in her church's nursery. She loved travel, reading, shopping, sitting with her dog and going to church.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, J. Reid Poovey Sr. and Kathryn Icard Poovey of Hickory, and by her three brothers. She was married to her late husband, Walter Nicholas Yount, Jr., for 39 years.  Nancy is survived by her three children, Martin Nicholas Yount, Walter Brandon Yount and Jane Caroline Jones, and her beloved  triplet grandchildren.. Services will be held on April 1st  at 2PM with a reception to follow  at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 82 Kimberly Drive, Durham.
