When Susan and Violet last visited with Nancy, they went to a small cafe in Casa Grande for brunch. What Violet told me she remembered most about her grandmother that day was how she rushed to the cafe door to hold it open for an elderly couple.

To Violet, that simple act of kindness spoke volumes about Nancy. Because kindness is what matters most to Violet. And it meant a lot to my mother, too.

On January 20, at a moment when we all feared that something terrible must have happened, an angel dashed to open a doorway for Nancy, in her moment of need.

And that angel said, "Welcome, Nancy Stagl. Peace awaits you."

Because her time had come.

And as we passed through the chapel this afternoon where she was laid to rest, it was not only a time to grieve, but also a time to embrace Nancy's memory and to carry on her legacy of kindness, and through acts of caring, love, and service, so that her memory may live on.

I miss my Nancy.  We grew up from age 4 as cousins and remained close all our lives.  She was the kindest and sweetest person.  We kept in touch all these years, texting constantly, now being in my 70's.  My heart is still so broken because I miss her so much.

Dear Will and family,

I have fond memories of your mom from visiting your family home in Brookfield.  I can still picture her reading a book in your family room and remember feeling pretty special when she allowed me to help her select wallpaper for your upstairs bedrooms.  She was an intelligent woman and it was always nice to see her all those years ago.  My condolences.

The sad and shocking news of Nancy's death came at a time that the
Libonati
family was still mourning the death of my wife.
We now share a bond of grief with your family.
Und Wehmut schleicht uns in Herz hinein.
