Nancy Reed Johnson, affectionately known as Dete, was born on October 15, 1938, in Battle Creek, MI. She peacefully passed away unexpectedly on May 31, 2024, in St. Petersburg, FL,
Nancy is survived by her children: Daughter, Lin Levine and partner Cathey Cassady of St. Petersburg, FL; daughter Missy McDonald of St. Petersburg, FL; and son Frank Levine of St. Petersburg, FL. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Pace McDonald of Atlanta, GA; Katy McDonald of St. Petersburg, FL; and Baili McCaughey and husband Mike McCaughey of St. Petersburg, FL. Nancy's legacy lives on through the love and memories she shared with her family.
Nancy's favorite hobbies included spending quality time with her family, cherished friends, and indulging in fashion. She loved the sun and water greatly, sunset cruises, day at the beach or just soaking up the sun on her patio. She had an unwavering love for Frank Sinatra and his timeless music. Nancy's joy stemmed from being in the presence of her loved ones, and her dedication to her family was truly remarkable.
Professionally, Nancy had a successful career in the fashion retail industry. She excelled in various roles such as a buyer, manager, trainer, and marketer, leaving her mark in prestigious establishments like Macy's, Nieman Marcus, and Barbizon Modeling and Acting School. Her achievements were a testament to her hard work and dedication. She took great pride in being a single mother to her three children while managing a demanding career.
Nancy was an avid sports fan. One of Nancy's favorite cheers was “Go Blue’!!", showing her undying support for her beloved University of Michigan. Her other favorites were Michigan State, Florida State and The Dallas Cowboys.
In addition to her professional accomplishments and dedication to her family, Nancy also made a positive impact in her community. She volunteered at the Destin History and Fishing Museum and served as a judge for the Destin Fishing Rodeo. Nancy's giving nature touched the lives of many.
Nancy's spirituality was an essential part of her life, and she embraced God and her Jewish faith. Her belief brought her comfort and strength throughout her journey.
