Nancy's obituary

Nancy McKenzie Pye, age 78, a beautiful, spirited, generous, and kind soul passed away on March 12, 2024 at Avow Frances Georgeson Hospice Home in Naples, FL. Leaving a legacy of love of family and living life with kindness, passion, and resilience, even during the difficult times.

Nancy was born on October 16, 1945 in Knoxville, TN, the daughter of Earl and Kate McKenzie. She was one of 12 children. 

Nancy attended Science Hill High School in Johnson City, TN and was enrolled in ROTC.

She met her second husband, the love of her life, Robert Pye, while they were both working at Peterbuilt in Nashville, TN in 1969. They were married February 12, 1970 and soon moved to Illinois. They raised their children in Frankfort, IL before starting their own business , Durabilt, and relocating to Kankakee, Illinois.

Nancy was the mother to four beautiful children, Mary Debra, David Vance, Sherri Carol, and Carrie Ann.

Nancy and Robert lived happily on the Kankakee River for many year until Robert's passing in 2017, when she then moved to Virginia to be near her daughter Debra, and later following her to Florida in 2021.

Nancy earned her Masters in Communication and had a successful career as an Executive Secretary at Federal Signal Corporation and Vice President/ Treasure of Durabilt, her greatest accomplishment was her cherished role as a mother and wife.

Nancy's life was marked by a vibrant personality, forever smiling, and joyous love for singing and dancing. Nancy is survived by her two daughters: Debra and Sherri, her three grandchildren: Robert, Carianne, and Lauryn. And her five great grandchildren: Addison, Boaz, Charlotte, Bostyn, and McKenzie. She is loved and missed by her entire family and all who knew her.
