Nancy's obituary
Just a few months after her birth, her family moved to the U.S. due to a job opportunity for her father. The family moved several times over the next 5 years before permanently landing in Seattle in 1955 when her dad accepted a job running the printing press at the Seattle P.I. newspaper.
Nancy grew up in a home in West Seattle. Her mother was a master seamstress and sewed all of the clothes that she wore. She had a love for dance and spent 14 years of her childhood training in ballet.
She attended Chief Sealth High School where she graduated in 1968.
One day, a few months before her high school graduation, she went roller skating at the local skating rink and happened to fall down right in front of a good looking young gentleman named Franklin Moore, who very kindly helped her up. This was the beginning of a dating relationship that led to their wedding in December of 1968.
In October of 1969, their daughter Natalie was born.
After divorcing in 1972, Nancy became a single mom. Pursuing her love of dance, she spent the next several years working as a ballroom dance instructor at two local dance studios while also competing on the ballroom dancing competition circuit.
In 1978, she caught the eye of John Tarabochia - one of her students at the dance studio. After a vigorous pursuit, he won her heart and they eventually married on the island of Kauai in October of 1979.
In May of 1980, their daughter Melody was born.
In 1987, Nancy committed her life to Jesus and began attending a non-denomination Christian church where she became very active.
Her third daughter, Samantha was born in November of 1988.
Over the next several years, Nancy immersed herself in her church: taking Bible classes, joining small groups, building relationships and growing in her faith. She had a burden on her heart for others to find the hope and love in Jesus that she had, and eventually took an “Evangelism Explosion” class learning how to effectively share her faith with others.
In 1993, Nancy went on the trip of a lifetime to Israel with her pastor and several other members of her church. For years afterwards, she talked about the special memory of being baptized in the Jordan River.
John and Nancy divorced in the mid-90’s and she was back to being a single mom.
In June of 1996, tragedy struck when Nancy’s mother Charlotte (a longtime Parkinson’s disease sufferer) had a stroke and passed away within a week. Nancy was very close to her mom and she never fully recovered from losing her.
Tragically, her dad died just 15 months later.
In October of 1997, at the age of 47, Nancy’s first 2 grandchildren were born just 20 days apart. She insisted on being called “Nana” stated that “grandma” sounded too old. This same month she took a tragic fall down her stairs shattered her leg and requiring months of recovery.
Over the next several years she enjoyed the addition of several grandchildren, raising Samantha, caring for her beloved cat Max and several trips to one of her favorite places - Ocean Shores.
In 2004 Nancy decided it was time for a change of scenery and moved with Samantha to Chico, CA to be near her daughter Melody and her family.
She enjoyed her time in Chico but was eventually drawn back to Seattle in 2006.
In 2007 she met her future husband Mark Oliansky. They hit it off immediately and were married in March of 2010.
They enjoyed building a life together in Bonney Lake and Nancy was thrilled to have a yard to call her own to design and landscape.
Mark and Nancy took several trips together including a cruise where Mark gave his life to Jesus, a trip to Brooklyn to see Mark’s hometown, and many visits to Ocean Shores and Leavenworth.
She loved spending her time decorating their house, being active in their church, caring for their aging cat "Cloudy", and spending time in her beloved garden.
Nancy had many things that she loved and devoted herself to, but the thing that she felt the most urgency for was the assurance that all of her loved ones would turn towards Jesus and the hope and love that He offers.
