Nancy's obituary

Nancy J. (Dutra) Mosher, 84, of Dartmouth passed away on December 8th, 2021. She was the widow of Ralph M. Mosher, whom she shared 49 wonderful years together. The comfort in our loss of her is that they are now reunited again.

Born in New Bedford, Nancy was the daughter of the late Anthony Dutra and Augusta (Rodrigues) Dutra Martin.

When Nancy married Ralph in 1955, the couple settled in Dartmouth, MA where they worked together for 48 years as the proprietors of the successful business, Dartmouth Auto Sales. They raised their daughters and were the original “work from home” family; having their business office, busy car lot and garage just steps away from their front door. Many years of hard work gave them the opportunity to have a lakeside summer cottage on Lake Noquochoke and many wonderful memories for their daughters to cherish. Nancy was also a talented seamstress. After learning valuable skills as a young factory seamstress before she became a mother, she was known for creating many of her daughters' matching dresses when they were young, and imaginative costumes for her grandkids. Her creative talents would always shine whenever she picked up a crochet hook or a paint brush. She loved working with her hands and was never afraid to tackle a home project. Nancy loved supporting her husband's enthusiasm for antique cars, and their hobby and business of finding and restoring old classics led them to many evening car cruises and trophies. Many summer evenings with the Downshifters Car club provided fun memories for all. They also took many camping trips all over New England with their motorhome, joining the Good Sam and Family Motor Coach chapters of New England and Cape Cod. Nancy’s fun loving and comedic personality will be missed by many, as well as her hysterical impersonations, she was known for making children crack up with laughter. Her family will miss her dearly, but we are so grateful to know she is now surrounded by all whom we have lost already.

Nancy is survived by her daughters, Nancy Thibodeau of Dartmouth and her partner Russell Hiksdal, Jane Raczka and her husband Stephen of Dartmouth,  four grandchildren; Randall Mosher, Rebecca Raczka, Ryan Doucette, and Stephanie Raczka , as well as eight great grandchildren, two siblings and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was the mother of the late Luann R. (Mosher) Doucette. The grandmother of the late Andre D. Thibodeau III, and the late Jason J. Mosher, as well as the great-grandmother of the late Andre D. Thibodeau IV.

Per her request for cremation, a graveside service at the Beech Grove Cemetery in Westport will be held on January 3, 2022 at 10:00 am. The family will gather at the Hixbridge Road entrance closest to the Westport fire station. Friends and family are welcome to join us in our tribute to her life.
