Nancy's obituary
The world lost a healer, a light, and a truly compassionate soul. Nancy May passed away on June 29, 2025, leaving behind a profound legacy of love, laughter, and service. A nurse for more than four decades, Nancy didn’t just care for people—she cared about them. Whether in a bustling hospital ward or a quiet bedside vigil, she brought not only medical skill but an unmatched empathy, warmth, and presence that comforted thousands during their most vulnerable moments. She believed in the power of human connection and made every patient feel seen, heard, and valued.
Nancy built a rich and meaningful life in Key West, a place that reflected her spirit—colorful, serene, and full of life. There, she raised her beloved children—Rebecca, Zachary, and Ian—instilling in them the same kindness, strength, and joy that defined her. She found happiness in the simple pleasures: spending time with Otis aboard their houseboat, creating moments of lasting memory with her grandchildren, nurturing her thriving garden and cherished house plants, and getting lost in the pages of a good book.
Nancy will be deeply missed by her patients and their families, by colleagues who saw her as a mentor and friend, and by the many friends and family members whose lives were made better just by knowing her. Though she is no longer physically with us, the impact of her compassion, courage, and unconditional love will live on in the countless lives she touched.
She was, and always will be, a healer in the truest sense of the word. Please join us to sharing the stories of Nancy’s life…tell us who you are, share a special story or moment, or share a picture.
