Nancy and I were friends from childhood. We wended our way through the simple and hard realities of growing up. In High school we double dated, once brothers and other times friends. Stayed in touch through college and remainded correspondents for some time. I miss knowing she is in Florida and I will miss our messages to one another. She loved her daughters and was excited to be a grandma. She brought good things to earth and she has left us too soon.

Dearest Leissing Women,

Jed & I send our deepest condolences. Our hearts are broken for you. We wish you strength to deal with your grief. You’ve always been in our hearts, even though time & miles created distance. Please know, you are still in our hearts. We cherish our fond memories.

I am so sorry that we have lost Nancy, she was always so easy to be with and fun! We spent many Wednesday afternoons playing canasta and talking about our families. We all miss her!

A beautiful and wonderful woman, an accomplished scientist and creative artist. She always had an innate curiosity about the nature of things and instilled the same into our daughters. She had always espoused women’s rights, equality of the sexes and was a mentor to many of her peers. She was fierce, proud, passionate and independent and instilled in all our daughters those same qualities. She loved all three of them very much and absolutely doted on little Jon, Maggie’s son and our first and only grandchild. I still loved and cared for her deeply and will miss her intensely. The world is a lesser place in her absence. May the Gods we believe in gently receive her soul into peace and eternal rest.
I've known Nancy since 1973. Met her through my first husband., whi was her classmate since junior high. We supported each other due to being unable to have children biologically. Spent a lot of time together in Chicago. I remember how she wouldn't let you grandfather smoke in the house and he and my husband stood outside in a snowstorm smoking. I wish she had managed to plan that trip to Hawaii so I could have seen her one last time. Good memories
