Nancy's obituary
It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Nancy Eddington on the morning of October 21, 2025. Born on March 24, 1962, Nancy's life was a rich tapestry of love, service, and family. She was the wife of the late Frank John “Dr.” Eddington, whom she wedded in 1989, and an adored mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother. She believed in God and was Saved as a teenager where she attended Summer Grove Baptist Church in Shreveport, LA.
Nancy's legacy is carried forth by her loving children Amanda (AC) Eddington, Elizabeth Houck, and James Eddington; her son-in-law, Christopher Houck; her daughter-in-law, Margeau Eddington; her cherished grandsons, Levi and Caiden Smith; her adored granddaughters, Abigail and Madison Houck; her dear sisters, Joan Nerrettig and Beverly Arthur; her nephews, Jacob Arthur and Monet Nerrettig Ungco; and her nieces, Emily Arthur and Savannah Tai. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank (2005) as well as both of her parents.
Nancy was a gifted artist and flute player and member of the Chaparelles Pep Squad at Southwood High School. She was also a professional make up artist for Selber Bros. during her junior and Senior years in high school. She joined the Navy and was in Operation Desert Storm and spent time in Dubai and on the USS McKee as a dispersing clerk. Nancy was an avid bowler and that’s how she met her husband, Frank Eddington. She viewed her three children as her greatest accomplishments, cherishing every moment of motherhood since 1993, 1996, and 1990.
Remembered for her sharp wit and somewhat questionable humor, Nancy had a love for life that was contagious. She loved cozy socks and delighted in eating out and making memories, especially with Mexican food. She loved sweets like chocolate pie, chocolate ice cream, and fresh fruit. An ice cold Diet Coke was often her beverage of choice. She adored the music of Tina Turner, Janis Joplin, and Alanis Morrissette, and enjoyed her television served with a side of crime and mystery, with shows like NCIS, Murder She Wrote, and Law & Order SVU. Her favorite question was, “What’s love got to do with it!?”
Nancy had a fondness for movies like Pretty Woman and Sister Act, and she loved friendly competitions with her favorite games, Yahtzee and 10 Thousands. She was attracted to vibrant, bright colors, which perfectly represented her lively personality. She adored her late dog, Buddy James. One of her favorite things to do was snuggle with her kitten, Chester.
May she rest in peace, and her memory live on in the family she created and the many lives she touched. Nancy will be interred with her late husband at the West Tennessee Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Memphis, TN with full military honors on Tuesday, December 16th at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, consider donating directly to the family or Cornerstone Institutional Baptist Church on Shelby Drive, where her eldest daughter is a member.
