Nancy's obituary

Nancy Elaine Carter passed peacefully due to complications from Alzheimer’s on the 8th of June at the age of 87, at Cottagewood Senior Communities in Rochester, MN. Nancy was a graduate of Indiana University, receiving a Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Science in Education. She specialized as a speech clinician for early childhood and special needs children in both Indiana and Minnesota, and worked with hearing-impaired children in Anchorage Alaska. She married her high school sweetheart, Ronald M. Carter and died just one day before their 67th wedding anniversary. After a 40 year career, Nancy retired with Ron to the mountains of North Carolina where they lived in a log cabin home. She continued to volunteer for her church and community, write human interest stories for the local paper, take jazz piano, and learn the folk harp. They returned to Bloomington IN in 2014 with their 2 collie dogs and called Meadowood Retirement Community home until her Alzheimers required more care. Sadly Ron passed away in December of 2022, and Nancy moved to MN to be closer to family.

She is survived by her sister, Judi Danner, daughters Sarah Carter and Susan Ondler and son, David Carter, grandsons Nick Evans and Ryan Ondler, and three great grandchildren.

No services are scheduled at this time. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association.
