Nai's obituary
Nai Chung Lum, 90, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Taishan, China.
Nai first met his beloved wife, Lai Hor Lum, when they were just six years old. She had recently moved to their village, and they met watching cows graze in the pasture. Even as a child, his generous spirit shone through—he would share his food and snacks with her when food was sparse. This early kindness blossomed into a love story that would span 70 years of marriage.
A farmer and chef by trade, he was above all a devoted family man whose life revolved around caring for those he loved. He demonstrated his deep affection through unwavering dedication to his family’s wellbeing—always cleaning up, washing dishes, cooking for his family, and stubbornly maintaining his independence by mowing the lawn until just a month before his passing.
Nai spent the first half of his life in Taishan before making the journey to America to secure the American dream for his children and grandchildren. He made Bradenton his home for the past 45 years, where he continued to center his life around family.
He is survived by his wife, Lai Hor Lum; his children Chuck Lum, Chau Yee Lum, Chau Ming Lum, and Gigi Lam; and his grandchildren Andrew Lum, Anita Lum, Paige Kok, Cinthia Lu, Claudia Lam, and Michelle Lam.
Funeral services will be held at 10am on July 30, 2025, at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home in Bradenton.
