Myron Shackelford passed away on August 16, 2022 at the age of 74, in his hometown of Miami, Florida. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Myron came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.

Anyone else battling colon cancer would have passed quietly with family by their side. Myron went out with a bang: wearing nothing but his basketball shorts, while drinking whisky on the couch and watching the NBA playoffs.

Myron met the love of his life, Mary, while waiting tables while trying to get his business off the ground. It was love at first sight, and she supported business efforts every step of the way.

Myron’s life was about building a strong family and looking after the community. Myron lived as he passed on his own terms. Today, Myron's legacy is carried on by his two grandchildren: Alisha and Derek. Myron was a amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend we all loved. Myron would want his life to be celebrated. He would want you to sit up straight with your shoulders back, look around, be curious and most importantly: give back.

The family will have a private visitation at The Florida Funeral Home from 6-7pm on September 1, 2022.
