Myron's obituary
Myron John Cutchember of Ridge, MD, passed away on Thursday, October 14th, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital. Myron was born in Leonardtown, MD on March 5, 1968, to John “Kelly” and Viola Cutchember. The “baby” of the family, he had four sisters: Sandra “Dukie”, Cheryl, Gale and Joyce. “My Girls” as he affectionately called them, each had a very special relationship with him. They all were his elder and held dear their roles as his protectors, friends, confidants, and cheerleaders.
Myron graduated from Great Mills High School in 1986 where he played the tuba in the marching band. He fondly reminisced of his marching band days—the trips, competitions, and most of all friends—to anyone & everyone. After high school, Myron studied Physics and Computer Science at Towson State University. However, an office job would never have made Myron happy as he was always working on his feet and with his hands to build, repair and maintain the buildings and machines we take for granted. Much like his father, Myron could fix anything!
Myron’s first job was with Bob Taylor Engineering where he worked between school and other career endeavors off and on for about 15 years. Myron worked as a Drill Rig operator, lab technician, field technician and project manager for the Taylor’s and was a favorite amongst dozens of area construction firms. He continued his career with soil and concrete engineering at Soil Consultants in Virginia. He later shifted gears to work as a Dog Trainer for Applejack K-9 Academy in Charlotte Hall. While this career was probably his favorite, the hours were extraordinary. While searching for a new challenge and in his last engagement in the Pittsburgh area, Myron was a Maintenance and Production Manager at Ibis-Tek in Leetsdale, PA—a manufacturer of ballistic glass, advanced lighting, specialty vehicles and other products serving the defense, law enforcement, government agency and municipal sectors. Upon returning to MD in 2020, Myron worked with his brother-in-law, Douglas Somerville, on various construction projects.
Myron married Coleen (Riley) Cutchember in March of 1999. They had two sons, Donovan and Patrick. Myron was so proud of his sons’ athletic prowess and enjoyed coaching them in flag football in their younger years. Later, he gleamed with pride as they ran for touchdowns and wrestled in championships. His favorite pastimes with his boys were fishing and watching the Pittsburgh Steeler’s football team!
Myron valued his lifelong friendships with Robbie, Sam, Anne Marie, Marvin, Taryn, and Daniela. Not everyone has enough personality to have this many lifelong, ride or die friends, but Myron certainly did! Of course, they fell in and out of touch over the years but true friendships like these could pick up any day and after any amount of time.
Myron is preceded in death by his father, Kelly Cutchember, who passed away February 2021. (They are sharing a conversation over a stuffed ham sandwich and talking about the chores that need done at the church right now!) He is survived by his mother Viola Cutchember, a very special friend Michelle Williams; children, Donovan & Patrick; his girls Sandra aka “Dukie” (James) Reid, Cheryl (Michael) Brown, Gale (Douglas) Somerville, and Joyce (Stuart) Goodwine; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many friends and relatives.
